Intro to Acon Crianza Ribera del Duero –
Acon Crianza Ribera del Duero is a delicious classic Ribera with full deep yet elegant aromas and flavours.
Full tasting note and wine making –
Acon Crianza Ribera del Duero is full of powerful ripe black fruits aromas and with hints of spice, vanilla and liquorice coming through. It has a rounded palate with good backbone of integrated ripe tannins and powerful robust fruit notes and a lingering finish.
The grapes were harvested by hand and placed into small cases of 12 Kg for careful transport to the winery where they undergo a cold pre‐fermentation maceration for 48 h followed by controlled alcoholic fermentation at 28º C and back‐fermentation. They then undergo lees maceration for 18 ‐ 20 days followed by racking and tasting.
The wine is aged for 14 months in fine grain oak barrels of which 40% is French, 30% American and 30% Central European. It was bottled in July.
THE PRODUCER –
Abadía de Acón is a family run winery located in the heart of the D.O Ribera del Duero, in Castillo de la Vega, Burgos. The original primitive cellar, hewn out of rocky clay, is one of the deepest and largest in Castrillo de la Vega and was developed by Norberto Carrasco in 1953. Here the family made wines by hand for centuries.
Today his grandson Jose Antonio Carrasco is in charge of the wines from this space-age looking bodega that emerges from the hillside, half of it buried underground and half of it visible. it combines concrete and wood for producing fine, fruity, ripe, elegant wines.
His wines are robust, mouth-wateringly intense and made from Tempranillo (Tinta Fino) with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon going into the Reserva.
Since then, the land and vineyards have continued to be cared for, producing wine in a traditional way and acquiring the necessary knowledge to make the current project a reality.

It is the ideal accompaniment for red meat, poultry, roast suckling lamb or pig, sucking lamb chops… all kind of roasted/grilled meat.

Delivery Charges
Delivery in St Albans is FREE for orders over £85, for orders less than £85 the charge is £5.
Postal delivery of tasting tickets and vouchers is also FREE if this option is chosen.
Our standard national delivery charge is £10 and is FREE for all orders over £250. The standard delivery is next day for all orders placed by 12noon and the following day for all orders received later than that.
Arrangements in case you’re out at the time of delivery
Please leave clear instructions in the special instructions section on the checkout page so the wine can be left in a safe place to suit you. As our delivery service requires a signature then if your wine is not signed for it is left at your risk and losses are not replaceable. If instructions are not left a card will be put through your door asking you to contact the carrier to arrange re-delivery or collection within 2 days.
