Intro to Cremant de Bourgogne –
Cremant de Bourgogne is a deliciously refreshing quality sparkling wine.
Full tasting note and wine making –
Cremant de Bourgogne made by Simonnet Febvre has fine bubbles and a pale golden colour and the palate is fresh and rounded with citrus and pear flavours and gently yeasty finish.
Maison Simonnet-Febvre own vineyards in Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu and Chablis Grand Cru Preuses. Simonnet-Febvre make Crémant de Bourgogne, the only sparkling wine made in the Chablis region since 1845. The wine is made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and matured in the old winery in the centre of Chablis using traditional techniques where the bubbles are created by an in-bottle secondary fermentation. Production is small and labour intensive and mostly undertaken by hand. Once in bottle it is matured for a minimum of 24 months before it is released ensuring a fine mousse (bubbles) and a rounded palate.
The producer –
n 1840 Jean Febvre, a barrel cooper from Montbard, founded the winery which is now Simonnet-Febvre. Today it remains one of the oldest and most traditional Chablis producers in the region. As well as producing top-quality Grand Cru and Premier Cru Chablis, it makes regional wines such as Côte d’Auxerre and Irancy, and remains the only house in Chablis to produce the regional sparkling wine, Crémant de Bourgogne.
Maison Louis Latour bought the company in 2003, along with a small domaine of Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Chablis vineyards. Since then the wine and packaging has been given a ‘makeover’ and the company has moved to a new winery just outside Chablis, near the village of Chitry. Simonnet-Febvre is now headed up by Paul Espitalie. Paul has worked in California and all over France, before settling in Chablis for the last 10 years.

Delivery Charges
Delivery in St Albans is FREE for orders over £85, for orders less than £85 the charge is £5.
Postal delivery of tasting tickets and vouchers is also FREE if this option is chosen.
Our standard national delivery charge is £10 and is FREE for all orders over £250. The standard delivery is next day for all orders placed by 12noon and the following day for all orders received later than that.
Arrangements in case you’re out at the time of delivery
Please leave clear instructions in the special instructions section on the checkout page so the wine can be left in a safe place to suit you. As our delivery service requires a signature then if your wine is not signed for it is left at your risk and losses are not replaceable. If instructions are not left a card will be put through your door asking you to contact the carrier to arrange re-delivery or collection within 2 days.
