Intro to Domaine Ferret Pouilly Fuisse from Burgundy –
Domaine Ferret Pouilly Fuisse is a classic example of Pouilly Fuisse with great balance and elegance with aging potential.
Full tasting note and wine making –
Domaine Ferret Pouilly Fuisse shows great balance between weight and freshness, with elegance derived from seamless minerality. It has layers of subtle fruit notes combine stone fruits, acacia flowers and spiced hazelnut butter. The finish is long, intense and spicy. A wine whose balance permits it to age gracefully.
The fruit used for this wine is grown on vines ranging from 10 to 35 years old and the soil is full of limestone and clay. after fermentation half of the wine is aged in lined concrete tanks and half in oak. No new oak is used – only second to fifth use barrels.
2018 has, in short, been probably the most successful vintage since 2015, with some growers harping back to 1990 and even 1947! However, unlike both these vintages, the yields were kind to the growers such were the perfect weather conditions from bud break through to harvest. The end of the vegetative growth cycle took place in hot and often very dry conditions across the region. Isolated localised thunderstorms in July brought with them a sprinkling of rain. In the Côte de Nuits, the south of Nuits Saint-Georges was struck twice by hailstorms. Luckily, however, there was little damage to the vineyards. The vines remained healthy and the sun shone consistently throughout summer. There was barely any need for triage, and it took us a fortnight to pick the entire domaine. For the whites there was an excellent levels of ripeness that lead us to expect great white wines that will be both rich and opulent but balanced by appropriate levels of freshness. In reds, the level of concentration is rare indeed. Colours are deep, yet tannins have an incredibly supple character, the result of perfect levels of ripeness at harvest.

With a history dating back to 1840, Domaine Ferret is a jewel at the heart of Pouilly-Fuissé, located in the most famous “climats” of the Fuissé amphitheatre.

It is great with grilled and roasted white meats, fish, shellfish, pizza, pasta, mature strong cheeses and creamy fish pie.

Delivery Charges
Delivery in St Albans is FREE for orders over £85, for orders less than £85 the charge is £5.
Postal delivery of tasting tickets and vouchers is also FREE if this option is chosen.
Our standard national delivery charge is £10 and is FREE for all orders over £250. The standard delivery is next day for all orders placed by 12noon and the following day for all orders received later than that.

Please leave clear instructions in the special instructions section on the checkout page so the wine can be left in a safe place to suit you. As our delivery service requires a signature then if your wine is not signed for it is left at your risk and losses are not replaceable. If instructions are not left a card will be put through your door asking you to contact the carrier to arrange re-delivery or collection within 2 days.
