Intro to Painted Wolf Swartland Syrah –
Painted Wolf Swartland Syrah is a rich harmonious full bodied wine with juicy dark fruit, savoury smoked ham, all spice and aromatic wood aromas.
Full tasting note and wine making –
This rich harmonious full bodied wine with juicy dark fruit, savoury smoked ham, all spice and aromatic wood aromas. The tannins are ripe and the wine has a lovely mouth coating texture.
The grapes were handpicked over a few days in late February 2013 into small baskets and taken to the cellar where they were destalked and gently crushed. It was fermented in small open bins where it was hand punched four times a day. Native yeast from the vineyard is used and the wine matured in French and Hungarian oak for 20 months.

Painted Wolf Wines was founded by Jeremy and Emma Borg, drawing inspiration from the African Wild Dog, and to quote them ‘our own Painted Wolf pack is a community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills to Painted wolf, allowing us to craft a range of delicious, authentic satisfying wines’.
Jeremy has over 20 years experience working with wineries in USA, UK and in South Africa and has a keen understanding of both wine making and the market and set out with a fresh and different approach. The goal is to build a community of passionate caring individuals who through grapes and teamwork bring the best available technical and practical skills to Painted Wolf. Jeremy is a visionary, with a burning passion to develop Painted Wolf Wines into an exceptional organisation, true to their mantra ‘Persistently remarkable, remarkably persistent’.
Emma draws on her wide experiences from working in hotel, catering and safari camp management, and collected whilst travelling and working on her adventures in various parts of the world. Having worked as a freelance photographer in the Cape winelands for the past few years, her work has been published in many wine books and publications. She is utilises her photographic and networking skills to tell the Painted Wolf story.
Drink with –
This rich and spicy wine which is great paired with French country dishes such as Cassoulet or a Beef Daube Provencal. It is also delicious with grilled regional sausages e.g. Toulouse. Amazing with simply prepared dry-aged rump or ribeye steak, seasoned with a little sea salt and crushed black pepper and a few pan fried mushrooms, ideally cepes or porcinis and a dash of the best extra virgin olive oil.

Deliveries are made Monday to Friday and not normally on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays though Saturday deliveries are possible on payment of an additional charge.

Delivery Charges
Delivery in St Albans is FREE for orders over £85, for orders less than £85 the charge is £5.
Postal delivery of tasting tickets and vouchers is also FREE if this option is chosen.
Our standard national delivery charge is £10 and is FREE for all orders over £250. The standard delivery is next day for all orders placed by 12noon and the following day for all orders received later than that.
Arrangements in case you’re out at the time of delivery
Please leave clear instructions in the special instructions section on the checkout page so the wine can be left in a safe place to suit you. As our delivery service requires a signature then if your wine is not signed for it is left at your risk and losses are not replaceable. If instructions are not left a card will be put through your door asking you to contact the carrier to arrange re-delivery or collection within 2 days.

For charges applicable for delivery to remote addresses such as the Scottish Highlands and Islands please note that different charges apply and these are clearly shown at checkout. The charges are per case of 12 x 75cl bottles and the delivery time will be a little longer due to the location.
